Fatal Collision in Sutter County Claims Three Lives
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (October 1, 2024) — Three individuals died following a head-on collision late Saturday morning in Sutter County, authorities confirmed. The Sutter County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Shane Loudermilk, 20, from Gridley; Juan Diego Soto Castro, 43, from Yuba City; and Ricardo Joso Soto Castro, 48, also from Yuba City. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash involved seven people across two vehicles — a Dodge Challenger with five occupants and a Nissan Sentra with two. Reports indicate that the Dodge was traveling south at a high rate of speed when it crossed solid double-yellow lines and collided head-on with the northbound Nissan.
Both occupants of the Nissan and the driver of the Dodge were pronounced dead at the scene.
