Tragic End for Los Angeles Man Clinging to Stolen Truck

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 1, 2024) — A 59-year-old Los Angeles man has died following a harrowing incident on Friday, where he clung to the side of his stolen box truck during a police chase, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim, who was trying to recover his vehicle from carjacking suspect Bryan Rodriguez, ultimately fell and was tragically run over by the same truck.
The chase ensued around noon when Rodriguez allegedly commandeered the white box truck near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Buckingham Road. Despite multiple 911 calls reporting the ongoing theft and pursuit through South Los Angeles, the confrontation ended fatally near Normandie and Vernon avenues, where police apprehended Rodriguez and held him at the 77th Area Jail without bail.
Initially listed in serious condition, the 59-year-old was later pronounced dead at the hospital. This box truck accident in LA has prompted a call for witnesses, and investigators from the South Bureau Homicide Division are requesting additional information at 323-786-5100.
