DUI Suspect Arrested After Multiple Crashes in Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY, CA (September 23, 2024) — A suspected drunk driver was arrested early Sunday morning in Simi Valley after crashing into a fire hydrant and a power pole, injuring his passenger.
Around 12:30 a.m., a caller reported following a possible DUI driver, according to the Simi Valley Police Department. While the caller provided updates, the suspect’s vehicle collided with a fire hydrant near Los Angeles Avenue and Sycamore Drive.
The driver continued south on Sycamore Drive and soon crashed into a power pole before officers arrived on the scene. Police found a passenger trapped inside the vehicle; Ventura County Fire Department personnel extricated the individual, who sustained injuries due to the crash.
Investigators into the DUI crash in Simi Valley determined that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08%. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury to another person.
