Downtown LA Party Turns Violent After Colombia’s Copa America Loss

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 15, 2024) — A large brawl broke out in downtown Los Angeles following Colombia’s loss to Argentina in the Copa America final, resulting in two stabbings. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of a fight near 847 S. Union Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.
The celebration, which began at the Sabor Colombiano restaurant, escalated into chaos as hundreds of people started fighting. What started as a joyful gathering quickly turned violent due to excessive drinking.
Police arrived in riot gear to disperse the crowd, which swelled to an estimated 600 to 700 people. Two individuals were stabbed during the altercation, with one left in critical condition. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified. There has been no update on the condition of the stabbing victims in Copa America brawl.
