Motorcycle Crash in Oceanside Claims Life of Young Marine

OCEANSIDE, CA (July 9, 2024) — A 20-year-old active duty Marine was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening in Oceanside, according to local police. The incident occurred near the intersection of Douglas Drive and North River Road around 7:51 p.m., involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Sgt. Clint Bussey of the Oceanside Police Department reported that the accident happened when a white Volkswagen Passat turning left into the AMPM gas station collided with a black Indian Scout motorcycle traveling southbound on Douglas Drive. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike and he was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 64-year-old resident of Carlsbad, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. The OPD Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation into the motorcycle crash in Oceanside.
