Tow Truck Driver Killed in Simi Valley Landfill Accident

SIMI VALLEY, CA (July 3, 2024) — A tow truck driver lost his life in an industrial accident at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center on Monday, authorities reported.
The incident happened around noon at the facility located along the north side of Highway 118, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:15 p.m., said Capt. Carl Patterson. The landfill is in an unincorporated area just outside the city limits.
The Simi Valley landfill accident occurred when a semitrailer loaded with gravel tipped over. The tow truck driver had been called to the landfill to upright the trailer. During the operation, the driver moved to the opposite side of where he was pulling. Tragically, the trailer gave way and fell back onto him, resulting in fatal injuries. Authorities have not yet released details about the driver’s identity, including his age and city of residence.
