Speeding Tesla Flips in Orange County Crash, 3 In Hospital
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (June 26, 2024) — At least three people were hospitalized after a speeding Tesla crashed and flipped into oncoming traffic in Orange County on Tuesday.
The Orange County Fire Authority received reports of a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue in Buena Park around 4 p.m. According to OCFA Battalion Chief Eric Miranda, six vehicles were involved in the crash, with two overturned and occupants trapped inside.
First responders extricated the victims, including the Tesla driver, and transported them to the hospital. Their conditions remain unknown. A third victim, seen in video footage lying on nearby grass, was also taken to the hospital.
Footage from local news showed extensive police and firefighter presence at the crash site, where all vehicles, including the Tesla, sustained severe damage. Witnesses reported that the Tesla was traveling at over 100 miles per hour when the crash occurred.
Police are investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the speeding Tesla crash. Westbound lanes of Orangethorpe Avenue between St. Pius and Beach Boulevard were closed for several hours during the investigation.
