Mechanical Issues Spark RV Fire in Oildale, One Injured

OILDALE, CA (April 23, 2024) — A fire triggered by mechanical issues in an RV injured one person and caused significant damage in Oildale on Monday afternoon.
Kern County Fire Department responded to the incident in the 100 block of Harris Drive at approximately 12:49 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the motorhome fully engulfed in flames. The intense heat from the Oildale RV fire also damaged nearby electrical lines and quickly spread to surrounding grass and fences. It was determined that the fire started in the engine compartment while two individuals were making repairs to the vehicle.
The RV was declared a total loss by the Kern County Fire Department. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to additional properties using multiple hose lines.
