High-Speed Chase Ends with Car Crashing into Bakersfield Bar

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 17, 2024) — A high-speed chase ended with a car crashing into Stella’s Sandtrap bar on Niles Street in Bakersfield on Saturday night, leaving one person hospitalized.
The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the scene around 10 p.m. after a car lost control during a chase and crashed into multiple vehicles before hitting the bar. The condition of the hospitalized individual remains unknown.
Bar owner Jimmy Browder recounted the chaotic scene. “A car was coming down here in a high-speed chase, reportedly around a hundred miles per hour. It lost control at the intersection, spun in a circle, hit five cars, and then one of the customer’s cars, shoving it halfway through the bar,” Browder reportedly told local news agencies.
Browder, still in shock, is focused on rebuilding. “It looked like they got the car for graduation. It was a brand-new Audi with paper plates. It’s just sad because the kids were hurt,” he added.
The cause of the Stellas Sandtrap crash is still under investigation as of this writing. “We had two cars shoved through the bar, and I was worried about the old building falling down. Thankfully, it stayed up when they pulled the cars out,” Browder said.
