Vehicle Strikes Power Pole in Ventura, Causes Major Explosion

VENTURA, CA (April 17, 2024) — The Ventura City Fire Department responded to an incident Monday evening involving a vehicle that crashed into a power pole on Foothill Road, causing a significant explosion.
The Ventura vehicle crash occurred when a car veered off the road and collided with a pole carrying over 60,000 volts of electricity.
The driver of the vehicle was the only person involved; they were treated at the scene and then released into the custody of the Ventura Police Department. SoCal Edison quickly responded to ensure that all power lines were secured and de-energized to prevent further hazards.
Although residential power supply will be rerouted to avoid outages, local authorities warned that cell service might be disrupted. Foothill Road is expected to be closed for several hours, and repairs to the damaged infrastructure could take several days according to the fire department.
