Vehicle on Tracks Struck by Caltrain in San Martin, One Injured
SANTA CLARA, CA (April 17, 2024) — A Caltrain collided with a vehicle that was on the tracks Monday night in San Martin, Santa Clara County. The accident took place near San Martin Station, according to a spokesperson from SamTrans.
The Caltrain car crash happened around 6:30 p.m. as southbound train 410 approached and struck the vehicle, which was on the tracks under unknown circumstances. Emergency responders were at the scene until at least 7:40 p.m., working to manage the situation.
SamTrans reported that there was one person in the vehicle who had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The train had approximately 25 passengers aboard at the time of the incident; none of them were injured. Efforts are underway to move the train to Gilroy.
