Two-Vehicle Crash in Hesperia Leaves One Dead, Another Airlifted

HESPERIA, CA (August 31, 2024) — A fatal two-vehicle collision early Monday morning in Hesperia left one person dead and another airlifted to a trauma center. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road, involving a white 2001 Nissan Sentra and a white Ford work truck from Rising Edge.
According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Paslak, the Nissan was traveling southbound on Mariposa Road with a green light when the Ford, traveling eastbound on Ranchero Road, ran a red light and struck the passenger side of the Nissan. The passenger in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded, and the driver of the Nissan was airlifted to a trauma center after being transported by ambulance to Hesperia Airport. The driver of the Ford also sustained injuries.
Authorities confirmed that driving under the influence was not a factor in the vehicle crash in Hesperia. The Hesperia Police Department is leading the investigation.
