LOS ANGELES, CA (March 20, 2024) — Woodland authorities have revealed a tragic turn of events in a devastating incident over the weekend. According to police reports on Monday, a toddler was behind the wheel of a truck involved in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded at a 76 gas station, where the truck’s owner had momentarily left the vehicle running at a pump while stepping inside the store on Saturday. Unbeknownst to them, their 3-year-old child managed to unbuckle from their car seat and make their way into the driver’s seat.
Tragically, the truck began moving and struck 2-year-old Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, who was near her family’s taco stand at the edge of the lot. Despite immediate medical attention, Ailahni succumbed to her injuries.
