Crash Claims Young Life, Injures Four Teens in Placer County
PLACER COUNTY, CA (March 27, 2024) — In a heart-wrenching incident early Tuesday morning, a 16-year-old boy lost his life, and four other teenagers sustained serious injuries following a crash in Placer County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol might have played a role in the tragedy that unfolded around 1:10 a.m. on Foresthill Road, just east of Mayflower Road, near the Foresthill area.
The vehicle, driven by the deceased teen, failed to navigate a curve properly and collided with a tree. All occupants, ranging in age from 16 to 17, hailed from the Placer County region and are now grappling with the aftermath of the accident. The CHP continues to investigate the Placer County crash, with early indications pointing towards the involvement of alcohol.
The Placer Union High School District confirmed that the teen who died was a student at Foresthill High School. The district, in a statement, expressed its deep sorrow over the loss and extended support to the injured students, also from Foresthill High School.
The community is now rallying together, providing resources and planning for additional counseling and support services post-Spring Break to help students and staff navigate through this challenging time.
