Minor Detained Following Fatal San Jose Hit-and-Run
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 4, 2024) — In the early hours of Wednesday morning, San Jose police were called to a tragic scene in the city’s Evergreen Valley neighborhood, where a devastating hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a pickup truck driver.
The collision occurred around 4:10 a.m. at the intersection of Nieman Boulevard and Daniel Maloney Drive/Elkins Way.
Investigations into the San Jose hit-and-run revealed a black 2017 Chevy Camaro, driven at a high rate of speed, ignored a stop sign on Nieman Boulevard and collided with a white 2000 Nissan Frontier traveling west on Daniel Maloney Drive.
The impact was fatal for the solo driver of the Nissan, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding the victim’s name pending family notification by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
The Camaro’s driver initially fled the scene, leaving the damaged vehicle behind. However, diligent police work led to the subsequent arrest of a minor believed to be at the wheel at the time of the collision.
