Deadly Highway Shooting on 10 Freeway Claims Young Man’s Life
COVINA, CA (May 11, 2024) — A motorcycle rider reportedly fired multiple shots at another vehicle on the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway in Covina early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a man in his early 20s.
The 10 Freeway shooting happened near the Via Verde exit at around 2:16 a.m., leading to the closure of all eastbound lanes as authorities conducted investigations.
California Highway Patrol officers found the victim inside a white Chevy Camaro, which he had managed to pull over to the freeway’s right shoulder despite the assault. Despite swift life-saving attempts by officers and later by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed.
The freeway was temporarily shut down, causing significant traffic diversions, but reopened by 8 a.m. The northbound 57 Freeway was also affected, with only the #4 lane at the Via Verde St. exit being reopened while the off-ramp remained closed.
As the investigation continues, no suspects have been identified, and authorities have not released details about the motorcycle or any additional vehicles involved. The violent episode has left the community in shock and raised concerns about safety on the busy freeway.
