The Palmer Candy recall, announced in an official notice from the Food and Drug Administration, affects products sold at major retailers including Dollar General, HyVee, Target, and Walmart.
The contamination issue was brought to Palmer Candy’s attention by their liquid coating supplier, who identified a risk from an ingredient supplied by a secondary vendor that may be tainted with salmonella. This bacterium can cause serious, potentially fatal infections particularly in vulnerable groups such as the young, elderly, or those with compromised immune systems.
Healthy individuals may experience symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, fever, and vomiting.
