Garden Grove Woman Maria Quinones Killed in Early Morning Collision [Santa Ana, CA]

SANTA ANA, CA (May 22, 2024) — A 66-year-old Garden Grove woman, Maria Quinones, died in a fatal traffic collision early Tuesday morning at the intersection of 17th Street and Tustin Avenue in Santa Ana, according to the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD).
On May 21, 2024, at 4:19 a.m., SAPD received a call about a collision involving a Jeep Rubicon and a Honda Civic. Responders from SAPD and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) found Quinones, a passenger in the Honda, unresponsive. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The female driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that the Honda, traveling northbound on Tustin Avenue, was struck by the southbound Jeep while attempting a westbound turn onto 17th Street. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation into the Santa Ana car accident death.
