Pedestrian Killed on 105 Freeway, Prompting Hours-Long Shutdown

CRENSHAW, CA (August 7, 2024) — The westbound 105 Freeway experienced significant delays Wednesday morning following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.
Around 2:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a pedestrian struck on the freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
Authorities issued a Sigalert at 3:15 a.m., closing all lanes except the HOV lane to conduct a thorough investigation. The identity of the pedestrian killed on 105 and the circumstances leading to their presence on the freeway remain unknown.
The freeway reopened around 7 a.m., but residual traffic congestion affected commuters past the 105/110 interchange for several hours.
