LAPD Seeks Driver in Fatal Lincoln Heights Hit-and-Run

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 24, 2024) — Los Angeles investigators are searching for the driver of a white Ford pickup truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. [Read our earlier report on this motorcycle crash.]
The crash occurred on May 18 at around 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 20 and North Broadway. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the pickup truck driver ran a red light, causing the northbound motorcyclist on Avenue 20 to lay down his bike to avoid a collision. The motorcyclist’s body slid under the truck, which then ran over him.
The driver of the pickup fled the scene without providing assistance. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the injured motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim, a 49-year-old man, has not yet been identified.
Officers have released photos of the suspect’s white truck, which has a rear metal utility rack. The city has announced a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver.
