Major Recall on AmeriGas Propane Tanks Over Fire Risk
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 23, 2024) — Worthington Enterprises, in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall for approximately 146,160 propane exchange tanks due to a fire hazard.
The recall, announced Thursday, involves EVAS 20-pound propane exchange cylinders, identifiable by model number EVAS – M0859, a serial number starting with “W,” and a date code of “06-23” or “07-23” on the collar.
Initially sold under the AmeriGas label, these cylinders might have been exchanged and rebranded by various propane distributors.
Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the cylinders, ensure the top valve is fully closed, and return them to any AmeriGas Propane Exchange location for a complimentary replacement. To date, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries related to the recall of propane tanks.
