Kern County authorities have confirmed the death of 93-year-old Jay Edward Easttom, a resident of California City, following a crash on Highway 14 on Wednesday night.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office reported that Easttom was driving northbound on Highway 14, just south of Pine Tree Canyon Road, at approximately 7:50 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road and crashed.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Easttom was pronounced dead on-site.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. No additional injuries have been reported.
