A car crash on Highway 29 near the Imola Avenue off-ramp in Napa resulted in the deaths of two children on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. when a black Nissan left the road and struck a tree, deploying its airbags.
The vehicle carried a 31-year-old Napa resident, Yesica Barajas, and her two child passengers: a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. The children died at the scene, while Barajas sustained serious injuries and was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital.
Law enforcement has arrested Barajas on driving under the influence charges. Preliminary investigations point to alcohol, speed, and drugs as contributing factors in the crash.
CHP has not released the names of the victims or additional details about the circumstances leading to the incident. Officials urge anyone with information or who witnessed the Napa crash to contact investigators immediately.
