A fatal highway crash in Merced County is under investigation after a Nissan, reportedly stranded in the number three lane on Highway 152 east of Dinosaur Point, was struck by a tractor-trailer.
The incident happened at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, just outside Pacheco State Park. The California Highway Patrol reported that the halted Nissan was hit by a westbound tractor-trailer that did not see the stopped car.
The impact ejected the driver, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. Authorities have stated that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal Merced County Highway crash is ongoing.
