
The family of 45-year-old construction worker Jose Mantecon, a subcontractor on an overnight Caltrans project, is calling on drivers to exercise increased caution, particularly around construction zones. This is after his death in a crash on the 91 Freeway in Buena Park Friday before daybreak.
According to officials, Mantecon was struck by a pickup truck while traveling along the freeway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mantecon, a resident known for his dedication as a husband and father to 12-year-old Madeline and 9-year-old Logan, is remembered by his family as a devoted individual who enjoyed outdoor activities.
His wife, Carla Mantecon, and his mother, Vivian Mantecon, stressed the importance of careful driving to prevent future tragedies.
The family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist with expenses and support during this difficult time. Investigators continue to review the incident
