A violent collision in Home Gardens, Riverside County, left three people injured and severely damaged an AMR ambulance truck early Saturday morning.
The crash happened just after 6:45 a.m. on the 12,000 block of El Sobrante and Willow Roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Emergency crews found one individual with major injuries and two with minor injuries, all of whom were transported to local hospitals.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol report that the incident happened when an ambulance, not activated with lights or sirens, lost control after picking up a patient and veered off the road, colliding with a palm tree.
AMR stated that crew members involved received treatment for minor injuries and were later released. While CHP noted that a female patient, previously picked up, died, authorities have yet to confirm whether her death resulted directly from the Home Gardens crash or from her underlying medical condition.
