A box truck driver was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision on Interstate 15 near Bear Valley Road in Victorville, prompting a full freeway closure and air rescue.
The crash, reported just before 3 p.m., involved a box truck, a Schneider semi-truck, and a Chevrolet pickup. Photos from the scene showed the cab of the box truck crushed, with the driver trapped inside.
Victorville Fire personnel conducted an extended extrication, removing the driver nearly an hour later. He was flown by Mercy Air to a trauma center with major injuries, officials said.
The box truck was operated by Currency Ambitious Trucking. No other injuries were confirmed, and the extent of damage to the other vehicles was not detailed. Police continue to investigate this crash on I-15 in Victorville.
