A fatal wrong-way crash on early Easter Sunday closes down the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
Initial information from the California Highway Patrol states that officers were called to the westbound span of the 10 at Central Avenue at 5:25 a.m. to assess the collision.
CHP confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the deadly crash. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and multiple other people were transported to nearby hospitals in unknown condition. It is unclear whether impairment was a factor in what happened.
A video from the scene, captured by KTLA photojournalist John Greenwood, shows traffic at a complete standstill on the freeway as crews began working to clear the scene. A CHP officer is also seen directing drivers to turn around.
