A person died after a crash involving three vehicles in the area of Burke Street and Kaweah Avenue in Visalia Thursday afternoon.
What started off as a major injury crash turned into a casualty. Officers were called to the scene at 5 p.m., where they discovered three vehicles with varying degrees of damage.
It was later revealed by local police that 26-year-old Omar Chavarria had struck two other vehicles after running a stop sign at Burke Street. After the collision, Chavarria allegedly made an attempt to flee on foot but was later caught and arrested.
It is suspected that Chavarria may be driving under the influence. One of the two other drivers was then rushed to a hospital but later died from injuries.
