A police pursuit ended in a crash on Blackstone Avenue in Fresno, injuring three people and leaving a pregnant woman missing.
Officers responded to a disturbance report in the area. The caller said a suspect had broken windows at a place of residence with a pregnant woman forced in tow. The suspect then left with the woman in a blue Lexus.
Officers initiated a pursuit after receiving an emergency ping on the victim’s cell phone, managing to locate the suspect at Garland Avenues. Upon spotting the Lexus they attempted a traffic stop, but the driver took off and sent police on a chase that shortly ended after the driver crashed into a bus stop.
One was hospitalized and another passenger was treated for pain.
The suspect was identified as Albert Mitchell and was located at a residence on Terrace. Mitchel resisted arrest despite being told to surrender multiple times and fought with police before being taken into custody.
Mitchell was transported to CRMC for aid and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail with charges of kidnapping, felony domestic violence, felony evading, felony hit and run, and parole violation for a previous home invasion.
