A firefighter was left with moderate injuries after another vehicle suddenly crashed into the firetruck they were occupying on the east lanes of 60 Freeway near Day Street in Riverside Monday night.
The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m., at least six fire crews were in the area after receiving reports of a fire burning in the vegetation next to the off-ramp.
The team was conducting fire suppression operations when a car struck the firetruck’s engine operator at the pump panel.
The firefighter was rushed to the hospital with moderate injuries and is fortunately expected to recover. The driver of the car meanwhile remained unharmed.
