A person was killed Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on the northbound side of Interstate 15 in Apple Valley.
The collision was reported around 2:24 p.m. between Dale Evans Parkway and Hodge Road. Local officials said the vehicles involved included a white Dodge Ram, a gray Nissan Pathfinder, and a white Dodge dually truck towing a trailer.
Preliminary reports suggest that speed may have contributed to the crash. One person was ejected from the Nissan and died at the scene. The vehicle appeared to be completely destroyed.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded along with California Highway Patrol. Northbound lanes were temporarily closed as crews investigated the incident and cleared the roadway.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
