A man was fatally shot and another wounded after intervening in an altercation early Sunday morning in a residential neighborhood of Los Angeles County.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. in the 14800 block of Steprock Drive near La Mirada Boulevard.
According to investigators, 34-year-old Joshua Monugian and a 51-year-old man approached a dispute between a man and a woman, reportedly attempting to defuse the situation.
Moments later, a vehicle pulled up beside them, and a suspect exited and opened fire on the two men. Monugian was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect fled the area. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released a suspect description.
