
VICTORVILLE, CA – A crash caused by a driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol and marijuana left two 17-year-old girls with critical injuries on Wednesday night.
The DUI crash in Victorville occurred around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Ottawa Street. Witnesses reported the teens were ejected from the vehicle due to the force of the collision; one was airlifted to a trauma center for emergency care.
Authorities identified the driver as Tremel Daniel McAuliffe, 18, of Victorville. According to investigators, McAuliffe was driving a 2014 Buick Enclave southbound on 1st Avenue when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign and violently collided with a dark blue Mazda traveling eastbound on Ottawa Street.
Officers stated that the driver showed clear signs of intoxication from alcohol and marijuana. He was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center, facing felony DUI causing injury charges under California Vehicle Code sections 23153(a) and 23153(g).
