
BAKERSFIELD, CA – A bicycle accident in Bakersfield claimed the life of a 64-year-old man Thursday morning at the intersection of Olive Drive and Fruitvale Avenue. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the crash occurred around 5:37 a.m.
According to preliminary investigations, a 57-year-old woman was driving a Chrysler 300 at a moderate speed on Olive Drive when the cyclist crossed the street against a red light, colliding with the vehicle. The cyclist, Dennis Alan Scheideman, a Bakersfield resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stopped immediately, cooperated with authorities, and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors. CHP continues investigating the exact circumstances of the bicycle accident in Bakersfield.
