OROVILLE, CA – A woman was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) after causing a DUI hit-and-run crash in Oroville on Highway 70 Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened around 12:48 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near Garden Drive. Witnesses told officers that a white Ford Raptor, with visible damage on its left side, fled the scene heading south and exited at Nelson Avenue.
After a search, CHP officers located the truck on Lower Wyandotte Avenue near Ophir Road. The female driver was stopped in the parking lot of Feather Falls Mini-Mart, where it was confirmed she was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The woman was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail on charges of DUI, driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or higher and misdemeanor hit-and-run.
CHP confirmed that the victims involved were safely escorted off Highway 70 and sustained no injuries in the crash.
