LOS ANGELES, CA — A high-speed crash in North Hollywood early Friday morning left one man dead and several young people injured.
The accident occurred just before 1:45 a.m. on Vanowen Street near Lemp Avenue, when a vehicle lost control and struck a power pole, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Rescue teams extracted the trapped occupants and provided medical care on the scene. A 30-year-old man died at the location, while a 25-year-old man was transported in critical condition to a trauma center. Two other occupants, both 19 years old, were injured and taken to hospitals in stable condition.
Police witnesses reported that the car was traveling at high speed before the impact. Footage from the scene shows that at least one additional vehicle was damaged in the collision.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power sent crews to repair the damaged power pole. Authorities have not yet released the exact cause of the crash.
