BAKERSFIELD, CA — Two motorcyclists were seriously injured Sunday morning after crashing into a vehicle making a U-turn on Highway 178, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The crash occurred around 9:38 a.m. in the 13300 block of Highway 178 and involved a motorcycle and a Honda CR-V.
Authorities said a man and a woman riding the motorcycle sustained major injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Investigators reported that both the motorcycle and the SUV were traveling eastbound when the Honda driver attempted a U-turn, causing the motorcycle accident on Highway 178. Police stated that speed and impairment are not believed to have been factors in the collision.
