LOS ANGELES, CA (October 31, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run collision claimed the life of 15-year-old Joseph Rangel in Koreatown early Monday morning. The Los Angeles Police Department reports the incident occurred around 1:43 a.m. at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Arapahoe Street.
According to authorities, Rangel was riding a motorized pocket bike when he lost control, sliding into the intersection. A vehicle then struck him, but the driver failed to stop and left the scene. Despite the efforts of first responders, Rangel was pronounced dead at the scene. A small memorial, including a wooden cross with his name and age, has been placed at the intersection in his memory.
Investigators have yet to release a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved. To aid the search, a reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
