Bicyclist Killed in Collision on SR-67 Near Lakeside
LAKESIDE, CA (JULY 7, 2024) — A tragic incident on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle on State Route 67 near Lakeside. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m.
A 32-year-old man from Lakeside was driving a silver 2021 Chevrolet Trax southbound on SR-67, north of Mapleview Street. At the same time, a 52-year-old man, also from Lakeside, was riding his bicycle westbound across the southbound lanes of SR-67. The driver was unable to avoid the bicyclist, leading to a fatal Lakeside bicycle crash.
