Bicyclist Killed in Placer County Truck Collision

PLACER COUNTY, CA (June 27, 2024) — A bicyclist died after being hit by a truck in Placer County early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident occurred between 1 and 2 a.m. on Highway 174 near Hill Drive, close to The Red Frog restaurant and bar in Colfax. CHP reported that the bicyclist, wearing dark clothing, had either stopped or was moving slowly in the center of the road. The truck driver, who remained at the scene, did not see the bicyclist in time to avoid the collision.
The bicyclist was transported to a hospital, where they later died. The person’s identity has not yet been released. CHP is investigating the Placer County truck collision and has reportedly stated that drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the incident.
