Big Rig Explosion in San Pedro Injures Firefighters, 2 in Critical Condition
SAN PEDRO, CA (February 15, 2024) — San Pedro was rocked by a harrowing big rig explosion Thursday morning, leaving several firefighters injured, with at least two in critical condition. The incident, at Alameda and Henry Ford, involved a big rig carrying pressurized cylinders that caught fire and exploded.
Emergency responders swiftly transported critically injured firefighters to the hospital, though their conditions remain unknown. An estimated total of seven firefighters sustained injuries and were evaluated at the scene, with additional ambulances requested.
Authorities are taking precautions as one active cylinder poses a risk due to its high-pressurized gas. Firefighters have been moved away from the scene for safety.
