California Road Rage Incidents Top the Nation – Study
CALIFORNIA (July 25, 2024) — A recent study from Forbes Advisor reveals that road rage incidents have surged across the U.S. over the past decade, with California drivers being particularly confrontational.
The study surveyed 10,000 licensed drivers across all 50 states and found that California has the highest percentage of drivers who have experienced some type of road rage incident. These incidents include being cut off on purpose, cursed at, threatened, or tailgated.
According to Forbes, 47.5% of California drivers reported being deliberately cut off by another driver, ranking third in the nation. Additionally, 32% of California drivers have been targeted by yelling, insults, curses, or threats, placing the state fourth. Furthermore, 8.5% of California drivers experience road rage frequently, ranking fifth.
Conversely, drivers in Hawaii report the fewest number of road confrontations. Forbes Advisor noted that aggressive driving and road rage are not only dangerous but can also lead to increased car insurance rates if they result in a serious crash or injury.
