Car Chase With 6 Minors Ends in Crash with Semi-Truck [Los Angeles, CA]

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 12, 2024) — A perilous high-speed chase involving a white BMW SUV with six young occupants, including five teenagers and a 12-year-old, concluded dramatically in South Los Angeles on Sunday night. 

The pursuit began on the southbound 605 Freeway around 10:45 p.m., with California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers in pursuit. The chase transitioned to aerial surveillance by an airship around 11:10 p.m. as the vehicle exited the freeway.

The SUV, engaged in reckless driving including running red lights and narrowly avoiding civilian vehicles, ultimately collided with a semi-truck near Figueroa Street and Slauson Avenue. 

The car chase with minors left the BMW severely damaged against a chain-link fence, though the truck driver emerged unscathed.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants were hospitalized for evaluation, while the remaining four were detained at the scene, their ages yet to be confirmed by the CHP. The Los Angeles Police Department has since assumed control of the investigation into this harrowing incident.
