Covina Apartment Fire Hospitalizes Eight, Displaces Ten Families [Covina, CA]

COVINA, CA (April 8, 2024) — A devastating fire in a Covina apartment complex resulted in eight hospitalizations and significant displacement of residents on Sunday afternoon. 

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the emergency in the 1100 block of N. Conwell Avenue around 2:15 p.m., successfully extinguishing the blaze by 3 p.m.

Fire officials reported that all eight victims were treated for smoke inhalation; their current conditions have not been disclosed. The Covina apartment fire, which originated in the kitchen of one apartment, quickly spread to ten additional units, leaving ten families without homes.

The Red Cross is coordinating relief efforts to provide temporary housing for those affected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and updates will follow as more details become available.
