Crash on I-15 Near Baker Claims Three Lives, Including Child

BAKER, CA (October 15, 2024) — Three individuals, including a 9-year-old girl from Santa Monica, were killed in a crash on the I-15 Freeway near Baker on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just south of Halloran Summit Road at milepost marker 154, where a black Toyota SUV crashed into the center median around 4:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The northbound SUV veered left into the median, colliding with a guardrail before striking a concrete embankment within the Kali Ditch. The impact was fatal for all three occupants: a child, a 43-year-old woman, and a 56-year-old man. The identities of the victims remain undisclosed.
Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the crash on I-15, which is still under investigation. The CHP urges anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer L. Roberson at 760-255-5900.
