Daring Rescue After Car Falls 200 Feet in San Gabriel Mountains [Glendora, CA]

GLENDORA, CA (March 11, 2024) — In the early hours of Monday in the San Gabriel Mountains near Glendora, a dramatic rescue unfolded as a car with two occupants veered off Glendora Mountain Road and plunged 200 feet down a hillside. 

 

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the incident reported around 1 a.m. near mile marker 6.2, finding the vehicle ensnared in dense vegetation.

 

One individual miraculously managed to climb back to the road, seeking assistance for the friend remaining trapped in the wreck. 

 

The Fire Department’s Battalion Chief Steve Cabrera detailed the complex rescue operation, involving firefighters being lowered by ropes to reach the car, equipped with extrication tools and medical supplies.

The driver was subsequently hoisted to safety by helicopter and transported to a hospital, though their condition remains undisclosed. As investigations into the cause of the car accident in Glendora continue, this incident highlights the dangers of mountain roads and the critical importance of emergency response teams.
