Deadly Fullerton Crash Involving Motorcyclist and SUV
FULLERTON, CA (August 29, 2024) — A motorcyclist was killed on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, after a traffic collision involving a Toyota Rav 4 in Fullerton. The incident reportedly happened around 3:11 PM near W. Commonwealth Ave. and N. Basque Ave.
Fullerton police arrived to find an adult male motorcyclist with severe injuries and his black 2020 Harley Davidson pinned beneath a gray 2021 Toyota Rav 4. The driver of the Toyota, a 47-year-old Fullerton resident, remained at the scene. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead by Fullerton Fire.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a white compact SUV made a U-turn on Commonwealth Ave., causing westbound traffic to stop abruptly. The motorcyclist, traveling westbound, attempted to avoid the stopped vehicles but was ejected from his motorcycle into oncoming traffic, where he was struck by the eastbound Toyota Rav 4.
The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Orange County Coroner after next of kin are notified. Investigators do not believe any other vehicles were involved, and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the Fullerton crash.
Witnesses to the crash are urged to contact Fullerton Police Traffic Accident Investigator Manes at (714) 738-6815.
