Domino Effect Crash in Kearny Mesa Leaves Driver Injured [San Diego, CA]
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 26, 2024) — A chain-reaction crash occurred in Kearny Mesa on Saturday when an 84-year-old woman rear-ended another vehicle, causing it to push forward into multiple cars.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened around 1:50 p.m. in the 4400 block of Mercury Street. The woman, driving a 2012 Honda Fit, failed to stop and rear-ended a vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and Mercury Street. The impact caused a domino effect, pushing the stopped vehicle into two others.
The woman suffered a punctured lung, fractured ribs, abrasions, and lacerations. Passengers in the other vehicles reported pain but no serious injuries. The Traffic Division is investigating the Kearny Mesa car crash, and alcohol was not a factor.
