Driver Dies After Car Crashes Into Mission Hills Backyard

MISSION HILLS, CA (August 13, 2024) — A driver was killed late Monday night after their vehicle veered off the 118 Freeway and crashed into the backyard of a home in the Mission Hills area. The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car reportedly flew off the freeway and landed in the backyard of a residence on Burnet Avenue. Video footage from the scene by local news shows the severely damaged vehicle coming to rest just a few feet away from a swingset in the yard. Fortunately, no one was in the backyard at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the Mission Hills car crash is still under investigation.
